Life Legacy On the evening of October 8, 2014, Eliseo M. Felipe passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home comforted by his four children. Eliseo was born on January 22, 1912 in Laoag City, Illocos Norte, Philippine Islands. He was one of longest living World War II and Korean War veteran in the Monterey County at the age of 102 years old. Eliseo served and retired with 24 years of military service with the United States Army. Drafted into the service when the WWII broke out in 1942, he was a member of the lst and 2nd Filipino Regiment supporting General Douglas Mac Arthur in 1944 to liberate Leyte, Philippines from the Japanese. That's also when he met his wife of 66 years, Vicky Salanap Felipe, who had fled with her family from the Japanese. Eliseo also served a total of 26 years of Federal Civil Service with the Directorate of Logistics at the former Fort Ord base thus giving him 50 years of combined military and federal civil service to our country. Also during that time he was a proud and long-time member of the following organizations: lst and 2nd Filipino Regiment, Loaguenians of Monterey County, Fire House Senior Center, Filipino Community of the Salinas Valley. Eliseo was also known for his “green thumb” as he loved gardening his plants and natural grown vegetables. Eliseo is preceeded in death by his wife, Vicky and grand daughter Jennifer Rimando (Bobby) Kausin. He is survived by four children, Vivian (Jimmy) Rimando, Evelyn (Oscar) Bolante, Gloria Felipe and Ernesto Felipe all from Salinas. He also leaves behind grandsons, Brian and Victor Rimando; Jeffrey (Valerie) and Javier (Sasha) Bolante; and great grandchildren, Erik and Blake Kausin; Jasper and Jameson Bolante. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 1-9pm with a Rosary recital at 6pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10am St. Mary of the Nativity Church 424 Towt St. Salinas, CA 93905. Burial with full Military Honors will follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
