Robert "Bob" Dean Marler

Robert (Bob) Dean Marler ( known to friends as "SpongeBob") passed at his residence on 4/25/2024 with family at his side.Born 12/9/1927 in Texico, New Mexico to Bessie and Floyd Marler.  Bob and his two older brothers made their permanent residence in Chico in 1928.Bob was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis of 50 years. Bob is survived by his two daughters, Marianne Daniels of Chico, and Shirley B. Marler of Oroville. Bob has five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, who love him dearly.Bob grew up in Chico, and graduated from Chico High School in 1947. After graduation he spent four years in the Navy, during the Korean War era. He came back home to Chico and married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Jean Conrad.Bob worked for the USPS for 35years.  He loved working with his hands, building a cabin at Lake Almanor where he would spend most of his summers. He loved restoring classic cars, fishing, water activities, golfing, and being the life of the party, always enjoying everyday to it's fullest. Everyone who knew Bob, knew how much he loved his Karaoke nights with his friends.He will be missed by many. May you rest in peace my friend, my dad, my gpa.Graveside service at Chico Cemetery on Thursday, May 16th at 2pm. Join us for a Karaoke Celebration of Life at the Studio Inn on May 19th at 8pm.
