Earl Frank Taylor was born on August 26, 1936 in Ferron, Utah to George Aaron Taylor and Ellen Aurella Peterson. He was the second son of five boys. As a young man Earl had a talent for getting a good deal on used cars, would fix them up and either sell or trade them for another. Earl joined the United States Air Force in 1957 and was assigned to the 497th Fighter Interceptor Squadron as an aircraft mechanic on the North American F-86 Saber. While stationed at Torrejn Air Base outside of Madrid, Spain he met Adela Sorts, his beloved companion for 58 years. They married June 11, 1960. They lived in Spain for many years and in 1968 settled in Concord, California and raised their four daughters. Earl worked as an automotive technician in Walnut Creek for Volkswagen and later in Concord at Porsche-Audi where he became a Certified Master Technician. After work he could often be found working on the cars of friends, neighbors, and church members in his garage. While raising children, vacations were often spent visiting National Parks and weekends were spent sanding, varnishing, and removing barnacles from his 28 foot wooden sailboat, followed by and afternoon of sailing on the bay. Earl's hobbies were travel, sailing, classic cars, and dragging Adela to airplane museums. After retirement Earl enjoyed attending reunions with members of his former squadron to reminisce about their experiences at Torrejn Air Base and Geiger AFB, Spokane, WA. He is preceded by his brother Orval (Pam) and survived by his wife Adela, four daughters Diana Brandt, Silvia Conine (Greg), Emma Taylor, April Taylor and three brothers, Robert (Linda), Melvin (Gerry) and Edward (Pat) Taylor. He has ten grandchildren Christina Brandt, Joseph Nijem (Jenna), Veronica Brandt, Ramsey Nijem, Elizabeth Brandt, Taylor Brandt (Gabriella), Adam Nijem, Evan Ramirez, Layne Patrick, and Serena Ramirez. He also has 6 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Barnett, Ramsey Nijem, Olivia An, Lillian Brandt, Joseph Nijem, and Taylor Brandt, Jr. Earl's body will be interred at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, California Graveside Service Friday, August 24, 2018 10:30 am Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Road Dixon CA 95620 Memorial Service Saturday, August 25, 2018 11:00 am Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1590 Denkinger Rd.
