Joan Ellen Attama Boothe
December 11th, 1934 - July 26th, 2015
JOAN ELLEN ATTAMA BOOTHE December 11, 1934 to July 26, 2015 Our dear mom, Joan passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, after a long difficult battle with a rare neurological disease. Joan was born in Martinez, CA and graduated from Pittsburg High School. Her former residencies include Pittsburg, Concord, South Lake Tahoe and Grass Valley, CA. As a young person, Joan was quite active socially. She was involved with the Rainbow Girls, was a Majorette and Drum Major for Pittsburg High School, and for the Loyal Order of Moose, No. 1475, Pittsburg, CA (1952), marching in many parades. She went on to marry and have three children. As a young adult, she was very active with the Concord Junior Womens Club from 1964 to 1974, acting as Treasurer, President and Parliamentarian. Up until her recent illness, she continued to keep in touch and attend gatherings with the women of this former club. She truly enjoyed these trips to different parts of our country to get together with old friends. When she left the Bay Area in 1976 and moved to South Lake Tahoe she started working for Bank of America again, retiring from the bank in 1990. She then had a short stint owning and running a restaurant, Ross Caf, with her son Ross. Thereafter, she moved to Grass Valley in 1995 for retirement. Once in Grass Valley, Joan became active, once again, socially, in D.A.R. She had become quite involved in the genealogy of her family which led her to discover D.A.R. and that she was a 5th generation Californian, a Daughter of the American Revolution, and had ancestry ties to Grass Valley. The discovery of her family roots took her to man parts of our country and to the Netherlands researching ancestors, before the birth of the internet, ancestry.com and google. She was quite the researcher, documenting many branches of her family history many, many generations back; one back 13 generations to the Netherlands. She belonged to many genealogical societies, and acted as officers to some. She held the office of treasurer of D.A.R., Captain John Oldham Chapter, Grass Valley, Nevada County, CA from 2002 to 2004. Joan is survived by her children, Linda Gail Berry Preston (Donald), of Walnut Creek, CA, Jeffrey "Ross" Berry, of Las Vegas, NV, and Craig Robert Berry, of Vallejo, CA; grandson, Gabriel Robert Berry, and brother, Michael Attama (Naomi). Joan was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Boothe, and parents, Bob and Helen Attama. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. At Joans request, no services held. No services to be held
