Brent Lee Echols was born on 9/27/1942 in Richmond, CA and passed away 6/16/2020 in Antioch, CA after a long battle with Alzheimers. Brent was the second of 4 boys born to Roy and Nobeleen Echols (both deceased). He graduated from DeAnza High School and then served a 2 year mission in Kentucky for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After he returned from his mission he attended San Francisco State University where he graduated as valedictorian without ever buying a book. After graduation he took a job working at IBM. Before he was transferred to New York he met and married his wife of 53 years Kathleen Marie Kvilhaug. They eventually settled in Martinez, CA where they had 3 children. Brent loved to run, waterski and fix things. He was well known in the community as the guy who ran in orange shorts every morning. He ran 38 miles on his 38th birthday. He also ran the Boston marathon for his 40th birthday. He retired at age 40 to become a mechanic and all around fix it man. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his 4 grandchildren. Brent is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Brent, his wife Mary Sue and granddaughter Anne, son Justin, his wife Jamie and grandsons Brandon and Jacob, daughter Elizabeth, her husband John and grandson Aiden, and brother Glenn. We will be holding an open house memorial service for him on May 15th between 1pm-4pm at the home they shared together at 197 Midhill Road in Martinez, CA. No need to send flowers or donations.
