Lloyd Francis Scott, 86, passed away July 10, 2012 in the presence of his wife and daughter in his Walnut Creek home. Lloyd was born in 1926 in Prescott, Arizona. He was raised in Scotts Valley, Arizona by his parents Edwin and Cora Scott. His father was a rancher and jack of all trades, and his mother managed the home and worked in the town store. After high school, Lloyd served 2 years in the Navy during World War 2 and survived the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He was a member of a unit that was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for gallantry. After the war, Lloyd attended University of California, Berkeley. On a blind date during his time at Cal, he met the love of his life, Ann Burling Scott. They married in 1952 and both began teaching. In 1956, Lloyd and Ann moved to Walnut Creek, California, where they raised their three children: Gordon, Susan, and Sally. Lloyd was a lifelong learner who was passionate about teaching. He was a principal of Walnut Heights Elementary and went on to become a professor of mathematics at UC Berkeley for many years. Lloyd also attended JFK University for law, then took the bar and became a lawyer. Lloyd was a proud member of the Masons. Lloyd was a husband, father, teacher, lawyer, author. He is survived by wife Ann Scott, children Sally Scott, Gordon Scott, and Susan Wiley, and grandchildren David Shannon, Haley Wiley, and Amanda Wiley.
