JoAnn Carolyn Hamilton-Scott
June 23rd, 1926 - April 28th, 2017
Created on Wednesday, 10 May 2017 | Written by John Baker | June 23, 1926 to April 28, 2017 - A lover of nature, animals and the Portland Trailblazers Born in Spokane, WA, to Walter and Marie Feldman, JoAnn was the youngest of three girls. The family farmed in a German community in the Palouse Hills, surrounded by crops, animals, and many relatives. She attended Plaza Grade School, and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1944. She entered the Cadet Nurse Corps through Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, graduating in 1947. While working as an R.N. in the Portland, OR Veteran's Hospital, she met a handsome patient, Robert Hamilton, and they married October 25, 1947. They settled in Canby, OR in 1952, and raised three daughters, Carolyn, Nancy, and Shirley. After Bob Hamilton died suddenly in 1990, JoAnn met Robert Scott, and they married in 1994. She was widowed for a second time when Bob Scott passed away in June 2016. JoAnn loved nature, animals, being outdoors (sunshine preferred!), gardening, doll-collecting, sewing, garage-sales, and was an avid Portland Trailblazer fan. She was not only an amazing mother, but truly a friend to all her large family, and to many others. She attended Bethany Church since the 1960's, was an enthusiastic supporter of Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse, the Humane Society, and many other charities. She is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn (Don) Adkins, Nancy Hamilton, and Shirley (Jeff) Hollar, all of Canby, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She also acquired four step-daughters, Linda Huls and Sue Scott of Anchorage, AK, Stephanie Scott of Bellingham, WA, and Katie Scott-Thomas of Portland, OR, seventeen step-grandchildren, and many step great-grandchildren. Private family burial at Zion Memorial Cemetery will precede a memorial service at Bethany Church, 450 South Ivy Street, Canby, on Saturday, May 13, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Steve McCoy. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse, or to any Humane Society. Arrangements handled by Canby Funeral Chapel.
