Jack Harold Margolis
May 19th, 1924 - December 23rd, 2013
Jack H. Margolis May 19, 1924-Dec. 23, 2013 Born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Jack served in WWII Air Force in the South Pacific, graduated UC Berkeley School of Architecture in 1951, married Jean Olsson in 1952, became a father in 1962, and left us peacefully on Dec. 23, 2013. Also, Jack was my husband, Valerieʼs father, a pilot, motorcyclist, architect, sculptor, artist, master table-tennis player, and loyal friend, always remaining principled and ethical as a way of life. We shared 61 years together, designed and built our own home, developed a rich, well-rounded life of responsibility and travel, enjoyed a variety of music and musicians, while enlarging our vistas via our bookclub friends. We enjoyed great food and wine and improving Valerieʼs and our abodes and environment. Jack took great pleasure in remodeling the homes of several friends as well as designing various public buildings, such as the Ignacio Valley Library. He thoroughly enjoyed good conversation, always with a sense of humor. Jack was a great lifeʼs partner, learning to social dance at age 65 as a gift to me, and learning to play the guitar at age 89 to quell any sense of depression following the diagnosis of an incurable heart condition. Jack was an amazing human being, with a creative soul, who was always able to see the beauty and humor in life. We closed every day with the following words: "Good night, sweetheart, sleep well, sweet dreams, I love you." I will forever miss his love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jackʼs honor to Hospice of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Ave., Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, Family to do services at later date

Our business' history begins when Roger Magleby, who was a pioneer in air-sea scatterings and a pilot, established our business in what was once a military medical staging and processing building for Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg, California. Ever since, we've had a special relationship with our military families and we are proud to be certified as Veterans Funeral Specialists....
