James Albert Keating
January 11th, 1926 - June 17th, 2019
James Albert Keating peacefully passed away June 17, 2019 at Aegis in Pleasant Hill. He was born in Cheyenne Wyoming on Jan 11, 1926 to Louis M. Keating and Helen M Keating. As a young man James worked for the Railway and in the Alta Vista Market the family owned grocery store in Cheyenne. James was a Sargent in the Army Air Force during WWII and served in Europe. He was assigned as a tail gunner in B-26 Marauder and flew his first 5 training missions in Flak Bait currently on display in the Smithsonian. He married Sherry Ruth Ann Cook (Koch) October 5, 1944 in Scottsbluff Nebraska. After the war James graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1951. He moved his family to Denver Colorado where he managed a Firestone Store. During his life he was a member of The Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, Jefferson International Sertoma Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Marauder Historical Society, and was a Second Degree Mason. James moved his family to California in 1963 and settled in Lafayette. He worked for several construction/demolition companies and owned Able Concrete Cutting. James also earned his Realtors license and Brokers license and Owned Jim Keating Realty before retiring. James is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Mitchell Keating and Helen Bickel Keating, sister Jacqueline Keating Pacheco and daughter Jacqueline Keating Fielding. James will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ruth Ann Cook (Koch) Keating, children Lindy Keating Haagensen, Suzanne Keating Thompson, James K. Keating and Patrick Keating, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
