America has lost another member of the great generation. Abel Auguste Gules Tiquet passed away March 27, 2018. Abel was born in Delagua Colorado on October 20, 1921 to Abel Augusta and Hortense Tiquet. Abel was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Airforce, the 479th fighter group stationed in England. Before entering the Army Airforce Abel worked at the Pastime Bar in Plymouth California where he was the night watchman, the cook, the bartender and bouncer. After World War II Abel worked at the Ione Cyanide plant, the Winton Lumber Company, that was sold to Stockton Box and finally sold to American Forest Products, where he retired. Abel met his wife Dorothy in Sutter Creek California and they were married in 1947. Abel and Dorothy settled in Jackson California where they raised two daughters. Abel and Dorothy loved to dance so they joined the Jackson Claim Jumpers, a square dance group, where they served as president in 1963 and 1964, they also belonged to other square dance groups, the Advanced Jet Sets, Sacramento; The Roundups, Lodi; Tokay Twirlers, Lodi; Jackson Wheelers, Amador County; Suburban 8’s, Sacramento and Valley Springs Advanced Work Shop. In 2000 Abel and Dorothy attended a square dance retreat in Hawaii. Family was very important to Abel, every summer he Dorothy and the two girls would spend two weeks traveling to different locations, one of those trips took the family to Delagua Colorado, Abel’s birthplace and on to Globe Arizona, Dorothy’s birthplace and the Parks Ranch. Abel and Dorothy would also trailer and motor home camp with his brother-in-law Howard and Howard’s wife Pauline as well as other family members. Abel is survived by his daughters Dianne Perry (Richard), Orangevale; Sharon Keener, Rancho Cordova; his brother Marcel Tiquet, Plymouth; his sister-in-law Pauline Parks, Ione; his grandchildren Carrie-Jo Seagraves, Livermore; Thomas Perry, Sacramento; Stacey Keener (Jennifer), Denver; April Keener, Rocklin and six great-grandchildren, Anthony Seagraves, Haydn Parrock, Meliah Jimenez, Giovanni Jimenez, Allie Keener, Brody Keener, as well as many nieces and nephews. Abel was preceded in death by his parents Abel and Hortense Tiquet-Roncoli, his wife of 68 years Dorothy Tiquet, his brother Joe Tiquet, his brother-in-law Howard Parks, his son-in-law Charles Keener and his grandson Jeffery Keener. Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, Jackson, California. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 12:00 P.M., also at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, Jackson, California. Contributions may be made in his name to A-PAL at P.O.
