Richard (Rick) Wilson Steele passed away peacefully at his home the morning of April 23, 2024 with his wife Linda by his side at their home in Dacono, CO. He was 79 years old. He married Linda Selkurt-Steele on August 3, 1985. They originally lived in Racine , WI, moving to Longmont Colorado in 1983 then to Dacono where they lived the majority of their lives.

In his early years Rick was a professional painter, craftsman and wood working entrepreneur. He continued in those areas when he moved to Colorado. Rick's hobbies included fishing, boating, camping, skiing, and woodworking. He also loved going to garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores. In their retirement years, Rick and Linda traveled twice to Hawaii, to Belize, California and Wisconsin. He loved camping with family in Wisconsin and going out on his pontoon boat.

Rick and Linda volunteered at the National Western Live Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver for 5 years. Rick loved cooking chili and during the 1980's, participated in chili cookoffs all around Colorado and also in WY, NE and TX, winning many trophies and ribbons. In years past in Racine, Rick was a certified scuba diver and dove with his brother, Dan. He enjoyed gold panning with his brother Lawrence in Colorado. He enjoyed metal detecting and loved the Green Bay Packers, even having a special "Packer Room" in his home for all his Packer paraphernalia. He also was an army veteran.

Rick is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter Renee of Fresno, CA; brother Dan of West Salem, WI; brother Lawrence of Westminster, CO; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his patents Lawrence R. Steele and Virginia Lee Faust Steele and his beloved dog, Boo Howdy.

Rick loved celebrating his St. Patrick's Day birthday wearing his green tuxedo and hop hat and eating corned beef and cabbage! He followed after his mother Virginia's artistic talents and loved working with wood creating many beautiful carvings and intarsia out of all types of wood. He also took up making magnet jewelry in his later years.

His wife requests any donations made in his memory to go to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO as they both are lovers of animals and love the sanctuary. Rick has donated wood crafts he made to them for fundraisers they have held.
