Priscilla S. (Torrez) Gonzales, 88 It is with immense sadness and broken spirits that we announce the passing of our mother Priscilla. After a brief illness our mom passed away peacefully in her home on March 30, 2021 in the loving care and presence of her beloved son John and her daughter-in-law Alice. Priscilla was born on May 30, 1932 in Tajique, NM to Sadie and Pedro Sedillo. She eventually moved to Albuquerque where she's remained until her passing. Our mom lived an eventful, full life; growing up in the San Jose area of the SE Heights in Albuquerque where she eventually met and married our dad Lorenzo Torrez in May 1965 and remained married until his passing in January of 1999. Priscilla is survived by her son John L. Torrez, (Alice); her daughter Jo Lynn Devine (Gary); Granddaughters Veronica Perea, Amanda Torrez; Grandsons John Jacob 'JT' Torrez, Joshua Perea; Great-granddaughter Alexzandria Pesina; Great-grandson Atlas Jordan Torrez; Brother Pete E. Sedillo (Christine); several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved neighbors and dear friends Lillian Cordova and John & Lynette Wallner. Our mom had recently begun a new chapter in her life and married her longtime life partner, companion, best friend and love Joe Gonzales in January 2019. Sadly, that chapter was short-lived and Joe passed away in March 2020. Our mom is also survived by Joe's loving family members whom she adored; Barbara Sandoval and family, Billy Gonzales and family, Robert Gonzales and family, Eloisa Michel and Antonia Gonzales. Our mom was preceded in death by her parents Senaida 'Sadie' and Pedro Sedillo, her beloved sons Freddie J. Sedillo and Benjamin Torrez, her sister Antonia Sedillo and her brother-in-law Agapito Gonzales. There will forever be a huge empty void in our lives, one we could've never prepared for. We will miss her and everything about her for the rest of our lives; the birthday and holiday cards she NEVER forgot to send, the delicious meals (especially her beans and red chile) that she'd pack in butter containers to send home with visitors, a random gift of a few dollars wrapped in kleenex, canned food she'd pack for everyone "just in case", her 30 dozen goodbyes and God-bless-you's on the way out the door, her "blusitas" (blouses), her "whispers'' the whole world could hear, her love of sweets; ANY and ALL sweets! We'll miss the hysterically funny and random things she'd say and do, her curiosity and at times total confusion about the modern world, her numerous phone calls - everyday, that hair she battled with that was never "quite right", her love of NM music, dancing, her stories of growing up and of course the fun times and trips to Laughlin and beyond that her and Joe enjoyed on so many occasions. She welcomed everybody into her home and loved to visit...A LOT! Her home will never again hold the same warmth and light. She will always be more than a memory, she is a living presence; She is our first love, our first friend, our anchor, our true north and nothing on earth can separate us - Not time, Not distance...Not even death! Our mom would often say "I'll be darn…" Well, mom/grandma/great-grandma: • I'll be darn, your soft, generous heart put a forever smile on my face! ~Joshua • I'll be darn, now I know why you always told me to be strong, you knew I'd need it on this very day! ~Jo Lynn • I'll be darn, your love and memory will never pass away! ~Veronica • I'll be darn, you will hold my heart forever! ~Alexzandria • I'll be darn, I will be your daughter's source of strength as she adjusts to life without you! ~Gary In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still, In our hearts you hold a special place, No one else will ever fill! Rest in peace at last mom and thank you for caring for us, for understanding us and accepting us unconditionally for who and how we are, for providing for us; for always placing us first in your life, for direction, for your selfless love; for EVERYTHING!... It was our honor and privilege to call you our MOTHER, our GRANDMOTHER, our GREAT-GRANDMOTHER! A memorial will be held on April 16, 2021 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Riverside Funeral Home 225 San Mateo Blvd NE A Celebration of Life Mass and interment of cremains will take place at San Antonio Catholic Church in Tajique, NM on April 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., where she will be laid to rest between her mother and her two sons; eternally reunited at last. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. – 2 Timothy 4:7
