Maria "Mia" Cole Warner
July 18th, 1950 - January 19th, 2024
MARIA (Mia) COLE WARNER 1950 - 2024 On January 19th, 2024, Mia united with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the everlasting love of her life. Her unwavering faith gave her peace, grace, and confidence over the last thirteen months as she relentlessly battled cancer. After graduating from Whitfield School in St. Louis, MO, and Centenary College for Women in NJ, Mia married Lt. Douglas Warner, USMC. As a supportive military spouse, she traveled extensively, moving eight times in sixteen years. During that time, their two children were born, and she realized that being a Mom was her true calling. Her selflessness and dedication to the raising of her children were beyond measure. Shortly thereafter, her passion for the Bible and Jesus began and never lost momentum. Mia was adventurous, loved to travel, and was most joyful when she experienced life with family. She especially valued and appreciated God's natural wonders. Mia enjoyed beach life as much as hiking the trails of the Rocky Mountains. She cherished taking adventure-filled camping trips with grandkids. Later in life, she excelled and took immense pleasure in painting. She had a brilliant intuition for interior and landscape design that she realized in her homes throughout her life. She always valued and cherished spiritual discussion, a prayer meeting, and a Bible roundtable. Talking to, laughing with, and playing with her grandchildren fulfilled and invigorated her. Mia is preceded in death by her father, Frank Crunden Cole, her stepmother, Ardath Cole, and her sister, Sally Cole. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-one years, Douglas; son Andrew (Angela); daughter Sarah (Eugene); grandchildren Caleb and Anabelle. Sisters: Catherine Johnson (Kenneth); Wendy Dixon (Dennis); Mary Gryska (Peter); Caroline Boldt (James); and numerous nieces and nephews. This summer, a celebration of Mia’s life will be held. Family and friends will be notified of the details in the next few months. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the "Come and See Foundation," at 6385 Corporate Drive Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. All gifts are tax-deductible.
