Raymond V Ornelas

Raymond V. Ornelas, age 78, born August 30, 1935 in Big Springs, TX and passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Ornelas was a veteran of the US Air Force retiring after 20 years and later retiring after working for 20 years in civil service. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and active member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Ornelas was an avid athlete his entire life holding numerous track and football records. He was preceded in death by his parents, Concepcion and Ramona Ornelas; and brothers, Valente and Valentine Ornelas. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jessie Ornelas; sons, Gene Ornelas, Erik Ornelas and wife, Aggie, and Edwin Ornelas and wife, Becky; 5 grandchildren, Olivia Ornelas, Adam and Rick Ornelas, and Brandon and Jordon Ornelas; sisters, Bobbie Kent, Angelina Anaya, and Manuela Corburn; brother, Frank Ornelas; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 6:00 PM in the Riverside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Final visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, at 8:30 AM with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 AM. A committal service will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 1:30 PM with full US Air Force Military Honors.
