Nellie Lee Hansen Johnson

Nellie Lee Hansen Johnson (Maiden name Triggs), aged 92, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 20, 2016. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Howard Hansen and Paul Johnson; and her sister, Abbie Burge. Nellie was born in Dawson City, Nebraska, on February 19, 1924. Still in Nebraska she met and married Howard 'Bud' Hansen on 3/9/1946. After WWII they moved to Denver, Colorado. Howard passed away in August 17, 1970. Their three children, Dennis Hansen, Debbie Sylvester, and Dean Hansen, survive them. Nellie's youngest sister, Winnie Nichols, currently resides in the Phoenix AZ area. Nellie was an executive secretary for the Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Services. Nell loved music and dancing. From her maternal grandfather she developed a lifelong interest in history, current events, and politics. She loved Colorado and its wonderful mountains. Nell and family felt so fortunate to reside on Grand Ave in Littleton, Colorado where neighbors, both adults and children, banded together for fun and support. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling both in the US and in the Americas. Twelve years ago, Nellie moved first to Dallas and then to Albuquerque to be close to her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Sylvester. For the last 8 years Nell resided at the Brookdale Facility where she greatly delighted in the company of others and all the activities provided. She was proud of living an active life into her 90s, and still being in contact with her friend, Myrt Arnold, from kindergarten, as well as other life long Nebraska friends. Nellie was cherished at Brookdale for her cheerfulness and friendliness by residents and care givers. Her last words were a 'thank-you' to family and helpers. Nellie requested to be cremated. A graveside internment at the Davey, Nebraska Danish Cemetery will occur in the fall.
