Patricia Ann Kauffman

Patricia Ann Kauffman, our sweet mother and "Grammy", passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the age of 83, after a short but brave battle with ovarian cancer. Pat was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 2, 1933, the youngest of three. Her rich life included careers as an airline stewardess for Eastern Airlines in the 1950s, working for many years in the State's Attorney's office in Montgomery County, MD, and in human resources at the Marriott Corporation. She earned her BA in paralegal studies at the age of 65 from the University of Maryland. Pat raised four children on her own, imparting in them a strong work ethic, caring for others & the importance of faith. She loved to travel and see the world. Pat had many friends and enjoyed frequent visits and trips. She loved dogs and enjoyed pet sitting for her friends. Choral singing was her passion; singing lessons as a young woman led to many enjoyable years of singing in her church choirs. Pat was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, NM, and previously, Christ's Episcopal Church in Castle Rock, CO. Volunteering was deep in her heart – over the years this included literacy tutoring to men & women in prison, visiting those in hospice, sewing Christmas stockings for newborns, and for the last ten years,, working at the front desk at Kaseman Hospital. She leaves her four children, Gretchen Armijo & husband David, of Denver, CO, Tim Kauffman of Las Vegas, NV, Jeff Kauffman & wife Lolly Gaines of Boyton Beach, FL, and Suzanne Kelly & husband Dan of Albuquerque; four beautiful granddaughters, Christine Armijo, Caroline Armijo, Jane Kelly & Claire Kelly; and her sister, Sue Maloney of Fairhope, AL. We'd like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Legacy Hospice and Interim Healthcare for their loving kindness, as well as many others who walked with us on this journey. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Albuquerque on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
