Stella M. Vasquez

April 8, 1916 – July 14, 2016 Stella M. Vasquez, born to Jose and Clodovea Maestas of Holman, NM, went with her Lord and maker on Thursday July 14, 2016. She is preceded in death by two brothers Cirilio D. Maestas and Joe Jr. Maestas. Also, by her loving husband Delfinio Vasquez. She is survived by their only son Samuel A. Vasquez; who for the last few years of her life was devoted to being by her side daily until her passing. Three grandchildren; Antonio Garcia of Mora, NM, Yvonne M. Vasquez of Albuquerque, NM, and Dominic T. Vasquez who resides in Durango, CO. Seven great-grandchildren; Selest Garcia, Selina Garcia of Mora, NM, Maria A.Chacon, Gabriela S. Chacon who reside in Grand Junction CO, Dominic A. Vasquez, Dylon Vasquez of Ignacio, CO, and Samantha E. Vasquez of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by loving sisters Josephine Alvarez from of Denver CO, Florence and Floyd Brillhart who reside in Oregon, Christine and husband Richard Taylor who reside in Highlands, CA. One brother Matias and wife Joan Maestas of Holman, where Mrs. Joan Maestas, a retired nurse and loving sister-in- law cared and provided a loving environment for the last few years of her life faithfully. For this the family is ever-grateful! Stella had several nieces, nephews, and cousins who are sure to have cherished memories of this strong, God-loving woman. She worked until retirement at a Marine base in Barstow CA, where surely she touched many people's lives. Returning to her home state of New Mexico she once again reunited with her "one true love", Delfinio Vasquez. They both lived out their days in their humble home located in the heart of Mora, NM. Later in life she once again relocated to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to her beloved son and family. This woman will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Although, knowing she is Resting in Peace, after living 100+ years in this world, one can only imagine all she has experienced and witnessed. God truly blessed her and her family for having her so long a time. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Mora Valley Baptist Church, 38 Rio De La Casa Road, Clevland, NM 87715.
