Robert Lee Salazar

Robert Lee Salazar, 62, passed away on August 28, 2017 at his home from a year long battle with Leukemia. He was the husband of Karen Salazar. They shared 46 years of marriage together. Coach Sal was born in Rio Hondo, Texas. He was the son of Frank and Maria Salazar. He graduated from Laguna-Acoma High School in 1974, graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1979. He was an educator and coach with the Grants-Cibola County Schools (1979-1993); Los Lunas Schools from (1993-2015). He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Karen Rose, daughters; Robyn Lee Salazar of Los Lunas, NM, Nadine and husband Casey Mein of Liberal, KS, Mykel Allyson Salazar and her partner Emily Green of Albuquerque, NM. Grandchildren; Alia and husband Donivan Byers of Albuquerque, NM, Nikolas Gwin of Amarillo, TX, Corey, Sarah and Ryan Mein of Liberal, KS, Great-Grandchildren Ava Rose LaJeunesse and Kaleb Elliot Byers of Albuquerque, NM, Small reception to be held after memorial services at his home in Los Lunas. Memorial Service will be celebrated at Laguna Acoma HS K'waika Center Gymnasium (Formerly Old LA HS), on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 11:00am- 1:00pm.
