February 28th, 1948 - December 6th, 2017
Donald L. MacDonald, age 69, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away December 6th, after a heroic 11 year battle with cancer. Donald was born February 28th, 1948 in Glendale, California to Hugh D. MacDonald and Margaret L. MacDonald. He grew up surfing in his free time from Hermosa Beach, California to Ensenada, Mexico. Donald graduated from El Monte High School in 1966. He attended college before joining the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1968 until 1970, which included a tour in Vietnam, where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. In 1970, he went to work for Pacific Bell in California and later transferred to Mountain Bell in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1978. His 42 years career saw him through several job changes and moves to Gillette, WY, Rio Rancho, NM, Commerce City, CO and back to Rio Rancho, NM. Donald was highly respected and admired by nearly everyone he worked with. Donald loved drag racing and cars. He especially enjoyed taking family members to national NHRA drag racing events and car shows. He was an avid fan of the San Diego Chargers. Donald's favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and would shamelessly brag about them to anyone who would listen. He loved to cook fabulous signature meals for family and friends.
