Joe Porras, one of the last surviving WWII veterans, was called to his eternal resting place on December 2, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joe was born October 31, 1926 in Atoka, New Mexico to Bisenta Sosa Porras and Feliciano Porras. He was predeceased by all his siblings – five sisters and one brother; his youngest daughter, Anna Marie; and a granddaughter, Dolores. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years of marriage, Maria Luisa; four daughters Yolanda and husband Dwight Warrington, Irma and husband Jaime Tamez, Hope Porras and Grace Porras; and son, Javier Porras. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who loved their grandfather. Joe loved his native Artesia, New Mexico where many beautiful memories were born. Although he moved to Albuquerque in the 1980's, Joe remained a small-town boy at heart. He always remembered his childhood friends and spoke of all his friends fondly. Of those who had passed, he would say of life itself, "Here today, gone tomorrow." A beloved husband, friend, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe will be sorely missed. Pall Bearers will be his grandsons Fabian Salsberry, Andrew Carbone, Anthony Warrington, Stevie Warrington, Abram Porras, Jacob Porras and great grandson Jonathan Carbone. Honorary pall bearers: grandsons, Chris and Alan L'Esperance. Services will be held at the Holy Family Church, Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with Rosary, Funeral Mass, Burial, and Reception to follow accordingly. Arrangements entrusted to: Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque 225 San Mateo Blvd NE (505) 764-9663
