Msgt. Richard T. Gillis, USAF Ret, 80, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to “”Team Robins Airmen’s Relief Fund”” c/o Team Robins First Sergeant, 121 Vaughn St., Warner Robins, GA 31098. Mr. Gillis was born on June 2, 1932 to the late Stephen and Mary Gillis of Manchester, MA. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for over twenty-six years before his military retirement. He then served the Air Force, again, through an eighteen year career as Chief of Plans and Programs for the 5th Combat Communications Group. He is predeceased by his wife of over forty years, Helen Brooks Gillis. He is survived by his children and grandchildren-Sons Michael B. Gillis of Warner Robins, GA; Patrick B. Gillis, wife Lori, son Steven and daughter Jennifer of Viera, FL ; Daniel B. Gillis, wife Linda, son Jason, daughters Caitlin and Sara of Bonaire, GA. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
