Charles V. Kirby
September 14th, 2012
Charles V. Kirby, Sr., a son given by the Lord to Greely and Shelly Strange Kirby, was born at home in Nunez, GA on December 3, 1935. His earthly body died at his home in Warner Robins, GA, on Friday, September 14, 2012, following a period of declining health as a result of his battle with Alzheimer’s. His earthly pilgrimage was 76 years. In the days prior to his passing he had expressed to his family members his desire to have his suffering be over and to depart and be with his Lord and Savior. His heavenly body is now in the presence of Jesus. His dying wish was to see all his family come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord. Today we rejoice in the knowledge that Charles’ work on earth is done. He has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home with the Savior that he faithfully served for 46 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Greely and Shelly Kirby, brother Gaston Kirby, sister Hazel Record, and loving grandson Jonathan Christopher Taunton. Charles graduated from Swainsboro High School class of 1954. He proudly served his country in the National Guard in 1953 and honorably discharged in 1962. On January 6, 1956, he was married to Carolyn Claxton who survives. They settled in Warner Robins, GA, where Charles was a building contractor and cattle farmer till the year 2000. Married for more than 56 years, they experienced the changing scenes of life in joyous love and fruitful companionship, which the Lord had entrusted to them. Together, they raised seven children and three grandchildren in their home. At the age of 30, Charles acknowledged his need for Jesus Christ and confessed the Lord as his Savior. Led to the Lord and baptized by Pastor W.T. Brown. Charles and his family have been members of the Second Baptist Church Warner Robins congregation for the last 36 years and was a man of deep faith and conviction. God and family were the focus of his life. He leaves a legacy of Godly parenting, hard work, and strong family values. His family will never forget the values he taught them, the love he showed them, and sacrifices he made for each of them daily. So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
