Gloria Dencoff

Gloria Dean Myers Dencoff, age 86, passed away peacefully in the early morning on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She chose to be cremated rather than buried. She is survived by her husband William (born 1931), a veteran of the Air Force, and her sons William (born 1958) and John (born 1968). She was preceded in death by her father Edgar Taylor Myers (1903-1949), her mother Alma Louise Findley Myers (1909-1991), and her brother Gene Taylor Myers (1929-1990). Gloria was born February 28, 1932 in Kansas City, MO. As a young adult she played bass violin for the Albuquerque Symphony, and later worked for the AT&T phone company. She married her husband William on February 4, 1956 in Albuquerque, NM. She and her husband put down roots in Albuquerque, with her husband becoming a civil engineer for Kirtland Air Force Base. Later in life, Gloria became an avid bicyclist and at her peak completed a 100-mile racing tour in NM. She also loved gardening and trained to become a master gardener. She dearly loved classical music and poetry and took a number of advanced writing and poetry classes at UNM. In addition, she enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, and researched multiple lines of her family genealogy. Gloria was a wonderful wife and loving mother, held an abiding faith in God, and she will be deeply missed.
