Juan F. Tapia

Juan F. Tapia Sr., (77) a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico peacefully passed away on February 24, 2019 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Juan was born July 10, 1941 in Las Vegas, N.M. to George Tapia and Eufracia Tapia. Juan proudly served 2 years in the United States Army as a Tank Driver. In 1964, he attended Barber School in Pueblo, CO where he received his license and became the proud owner of a Barber Shop on Galisteo St. until 1971. In 1972 he opened his construction business: Juan F. Tapia General Contractor. He ran the business together with his son Juan F. Tapia Jr. until 2008. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion, and was the Governor of the Moose Lodge in the 60s. He was a very active member of the APA pool league. Juan was preceded in death by his parents, George Tapia and Eufracia Tapia. He is survived by wife, Judy Tapia; children: Juan F. Tapia Jr. (Velma), Rachael Tapia, Christy Morgan and Anthony Tapia (fiancée Monique Garcia); grandchildren: Erica Romero (Mario), Juan F. Tapia III (Erminia), Phillip Morgan and Stephanie Valdez; siblings: Ernest Tapia (Patty) of Pueblo, CO and Irene Esquibel of Las Vegas, N.M; six great grandchildren: Angelo, Markos, Izayah, Mariah, Juan IV, Anthony and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, and many friends. A rosary will be recited at 10:15 am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am. The interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 pm. Reception followed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Lamy Hall.
