Shirley Levonne Garcia

On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, Shirley Levonne Garcia, loving wife and mother of eight children, passed away at age 83. Shirley was born on May 8, 1935 in Lamar, Colorado to Leonard and Vivian Nichols. She was a practicing CNA at various medical facilities most of her adult life until her retirement. On July 4, 1954, she married, Leo Andrew Garcia. Together they raised three daughters – Tina, Teresa and Shelly, and four sons – Kevin, Mark, Jeffrey an Aaron. She also gave birth to another daughter, Lorie, whom she loved. She loved her children first and foremost. Shirley had a sweet, compassionate heart for people. She loved working as a nurse (CNA). She loved sewing and quilting, arts and crafts, and participating in craft shows. She was a caring, kind and selfless person. She loved being a part of the Senior Ministry, Senior Bus Ministry and Grandparents Ministry at Legacy Church. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leo A Garcia, her son, Mark Garcia, her parents, Leonard and Vivian Nichols, her sister, Karen King, and her brothers, Bobby Nichols and Jack Nichols. She is survived by her remaining children, Kevin Garcia, Tina Garcia, Teresa Garcia, Shelly Garcia Taylor, Jeff Garcia, Aaron Garcia, Lori Norris, her sisters Janice Betha and Ramona Ankerholz, and her brother Mike Nichols, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley's Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 09:00 AM at Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque, NM, followed by her Burial Service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 PM.
