John Monroe Ross

John Monroe Ross, born December 20, 1939, passed away on July 25, 2016 at the age of 76. John was a lifetime resident of Colton, and graduated from Colton High School in 1958. He joined the Army and served 8 years until his honorable discharge. His service brought him overseas to France, Greenland and Vietnam. When he returned home to Colton, he assisted his mother Jennie in maintaining the family farm, which he continued to do until his death. He worked as a forklift driver in the Safeway warehouse until his retirement in 1998. He was also a proud member of the Teamsters Union. John was an active member of community youth activities with his children over the years, including 4H, youth sports and scouts. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. In recent years, he spent the winter months in Arizona, and gained many new snowbird friends as well. John is survived by son Ed, daughter Janice, sisters JoAn and Marie, brother Dennis, five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Linda. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He joins his beloved daughter Joy Marie, parents Albert and Jennie, sisters Eva Arlene and Elsie, and brother Leon who preceded him in death. Services will be held at Grace Church in Molalla, 901 N. Molalla Ave., on Saturday, August 13th at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a charitable donation in the memory of John Ross to the Colton Fire District, P.O.
