Warner Robins: Robert ?Bob? Glenn Coon, Sr., 86, passed away on Saturday, September 09, 2006, at the home of Rick and Mary Coon in Warner Robins, Ga. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home followed by a time of visitation Memorials are asked to be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving MADD chapter in Columbia, SC and the Warner Robins Civitan Club. Bob Coon was born in Canton, Haywood County, North Carolina, October 13, 1919. His first job was at Champion Fiber Paper Company in Canton, NC. He was enlisted in the Army in the 376th ASG Air Service Group from 1943-1946 and served in World War II. He moved to Warner Robins in 1991 from San Diego California where he retired from Info Mag known as Read Write, Inc. which manufactured business machines as a purchasing agent. Since his retirement he has served the public in Warner Robins as a volunteer for many organizations such as Senior Citizens, AARP chapter, Bonaire United Methodist Church, the WileLife Kitchen Band inspiring the sick and elderly, served on the Advisory Board for Senior Citizens services and volunteered and instructed for the Ceramics Shop at the Senior Citizens Activity Center. He is a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a loving father, a kind hearted man and a gentleman. His sister, Eveyln Betty Cabe and granddaughter Tricia Wilson preceded him in death. Survivors include his companion Marcella Cunningham, and children Sherry Matthews Michael, Terry Coon, Rick Coon Mary, and Wendy Spivey Michael. Grandchildren are Michelle Coon, Jason Davis, Ivy Ida Elwyn, and Kendra Katz; two nieces Earlene Hyde Ray and Robin Smith who reside in Canton, NC.
