Judith "Judy" Rae McCann
May 28th, 1936 - April 17th, 2017
Judith "Judy" Rae (Rangila, Schmidt) McCann, 80, passed away on April 17, 2017, after a short illness. A celebration of Judy's life will be Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Champoeg State Park. Family and friends are invited to attend a potluck picnic at 1 pm. Judy was born on May 28, 1936, in Portland, Oregon, to Patricia and Henry Rangila. She was a lifelong Oregonian who lived in the Portland area, Willamette Valley and at the central coast. Judy graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland in 1954. The majority of her career was in banking. She also worked for the city of Wilsonville and was self-employed with a dog grooming shop for many years. After her retirement she began another career in real estate. Judy married her high school sweetheart Garry Schmidt in 1954. They had three children: Terri, Daniel, and David Schmidt. In 1988 she married her kindred spirit and the love of her life Dennis McCann and gained a son, David McCann. After Judy and Dennis retired, she was able to realize one of her lifelong dreams of owning a motor home and traveling. She looked forward every year to their new adventures and enjoyed spending the winter months in the sunny Arizona and Palm Springs areas. She enjoyed spending time at Rockaway, golfing, and was also a passionate Trail Blazers fan. Judy was predeceased by her son Daniel Schmidt, her brother Mac Fournier, mother Patricia Rymal, and father Henry Rangila. Judy is survived by her husband, Dennis McCann of Canby; children Terri (Corby) Chappell of Independence, David (Beth) Schmidt of Portland, and David (Marie) McCann of Rainier; grandchildren Aaron (Kely) Chappell of Siletz, Megan Chappell of San Francisco, CA, Makayla and Katelynn McCann; great-granddaughter Zoey Chappell; sisters Nancy Rangila of Portland and Lynn White of North Bend; and brothers Raymond (Sandy) Rangila of Madras, George (Dee) Hicinbothom of Anacortes, WA, and Richard Hicinbothom of Appleton, WA. Private internment at Zion Memorial Park Cemetery (Canby) was in May. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Judy's name to Hopewell House Hospice in Portland.
