Warner Robins, GA- John Robert Brooks, age 83, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his residence after a long illness. He was born November 15, 1930 in Columbus, Georgia. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd., Macon, GA 31210. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. John was retired from Civil Service at Robins ALC. He served as President of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 987 from 1967-1973. He served as State President of the Georgia Council of AFGE Locals from 1973-1975. John was an Aide-de-camp to Governor George Busbee. He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. John was preceded in death by his parents Hiram Robert Brooks and Velma Rolling Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his son John Harris Brooks, his son Quinton Lee Brooks, and brothers Clifford Brooks, Brunell Brooks, and Perry Brooks. John is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Green Brooks, sons Tony Brooks (Georgia) and James Brooks (Debbie), and daughters Shelia Smith (Richard), Judith Brooks, and Brandy Hall (Chris). He is survived by sisters Beatrice Culpepper, Sara Britt, Doris Groscost, Margie Felgenhouer, and brother George Brooks. He is survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Takelia and Ariel for their love and care of John over the past few years. We would also like to thank Pine Pointe for providing wonderful in home Hospice Care, including our spiritual counselor Claire, and our very special nurse Amy.
