Griselda Galvez Chavez

Griselda Galvez Chavez passed on to a better life on April 28, 2020 after living a gratifying life with family and friends. She was born in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico on November 21, 1927 to the late Francisco and Maria Galvez. She was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Maria Galvez, her husband Hipolito Chavez, beloved grandson Patrick Chavez, Sr., brothers Donald and Amadeo Galvez. Griselda was a caring, strong, and loving woman. Her enjoyment was attending Mass at Sacred Heart Parish. She drove herself around in her little red car until she was almost 80 years old visiting friends and relatives. She enjoyed riding around with her son Eric and grandchildren Patricia and Mike she knew eventually she would end up at some casino she enjoyed as a past time. She liked visiting with her friends at the Senior Center. Griselda is survived by her sons Paul (Linda) Chavez, and Eric Chavez, daughter Paula Chavez; grandchildren Peter J. Chavez, Michael Cata Jr., Patricia Cata and Christopher Cata; great-grand children Miranda Chavez, Patrick Chavez Jr., Raelynn (Thomas) Chavez and Ethan Chavez ; great-great-granddaughter Aubree Martinez; sisters Cristela Martinez, Gilia Martinez and brother Guadalupe (Amelia) Galvez, sister-in- laws Tessie Galvez, Elizaida Galvez, Charlotte Martinez and Cleotilde Martinez; many other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Burial will take place on Wednesday May 13th at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be announced later. Pallbearers Peter J Chavez Jr, Patrick Chavez Jr., Danny Martinez, and Gary Martinez, Christopher Cata and David Galvez. Because of the Covid. 19 visitations and attendance is limited for peoples safety. The immediate family of Griselda Chavez will understand.
