Donald N. Black, 85, passed away Tuesday May 8, 2018. The Funeral Service for Mr. Black will be Saturday, May 12, 2018 11:00AM at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The Reverends Andy Cook and Napp Granade will officiate. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the church. Mr. Black was born April 11, 1933 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to the late John Black and the late Verna March Walker. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia Black and brother, John Black. Mr. Black was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, and he was passionate about throwing a line to catch a fish. Mr. Black served his country proudly in the United States Army. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech class of ’58 earning a degree in Industrial Engineering. He returned later and earned a Master’s Degree in ’64. Mr. Black retired from civil service after 33 years as the Chief of the Plant Management Division in the Directorate of Maintenance on Robins Air Force Base. His memory will forever be cherished by his son, Donald N. Black, Jr. of Cumming; daughter, Sondra (Stephen) Bohanan of Florida; two grandchildren, Ashley (Jonathan) Foley and Stephanee Bohanan; and a great granddaughter, Piper Foley.
