WARNER ROBINS, GA-Dorothy Pearce Bass passed away peacefully in her home on August 4, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 68 years, Earl Parks Bass, and their children, Jeffrey, Kevin (Elizabeth ‘Betsy’), and Jan (Gary). Dorothy leaves five grandchildren: Lindsey Bass, Evan Bass, Cameron Bass, Jared Dees, and Jena Dees and four sister-in-law’s: Linda Pearce, Carol Pearce, Elsie Carver, and Sue Bass. Funeral services will be private. She was preceded in death by parents, William Elbert Pearce and Minnie Lee Edwards Pearce; sister, Mary Frances Pearce McCoy; brothers, William E. Pearce Jr., Eugene Nathaniel Pearce and William Robert Pearce. Mrs. Bass was born in Whitfield, AL (Black Bluff Beat, AL) on January 5th, 1926. At the age of three, her family moved to Gadsden, AL, where she graduated from Gadsden High School in 1944. She briefly attended the University of Alabama, going on to work at the Airforce Supply Depot in Gadsden, AL. After the depot closed, she was transferred to Robins Air Force Base where she met and married her lifelong soulmate, Earl Bass, on December 11, 1949. After the birth of their first child, Mrs. Bass left the base and devoted herself to being a full time mother of three and wife. Mrs. Bass was an award-winning gardener and was active in many civic organizations including the Bud n Bloom Garden Club, Woman’s Club, and the African Violet Society. She was recognized for her civic accomplishments as the Warner Robins Woman’s Club “Club Woman of the Year” in 2002. In lieu of gifting flowers, memorials may be offered through a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org, baking for your family members, planting a flower, or offering an act of kindness to someone you know or someone in need—pay it forward, honoring the kind spirit of Mrs. Dorothy Bass. A special thanks to all of the staff of Heart of Georgia Hospice who were truly a blessing to her and her family.
