Mary Katalinich

Biography Mary Katalinich, 98, of Boulder, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Boulder Manor Nursing Home. She was born on May 6, 1914, to Steve and Mary Novoselac, in Chisholm, Minnesota, the sixth of 11 children. She moved to West Allis, Wisconsin, where she met her husband, Mike. She worked various jobs, from a laborer in the open pit mines of the Mesabi Iron Range in Minnesota, to factory worker at Kearney and Trecker in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to housewife and cleaning lady. Mary loved to cook and sing and was very active in all the activities at the Boulder Manor. In 2010 she was crowned “Queen of Hearts” at the Boulder Manor. She also entered The Colorado Silver Queen Competition at the 2010 Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado, where she sang “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” at the competition, and where she finished runner-up. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, and all of her siblings: Genevieve, Tony, Sally, George, Annie, Henry, Johnny, Dorothy, Pete, and Frankie, making her the “Last One”. She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Kim) Katalinich of Iowa, and David (Jane) Katalinich, of Frederick, Colorado. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Karen Katalinich, of Edgewater, Colorado; Joseph (Olivia) Katalinich, of Wheatridge, Colorado; and Michael (Jennifer) Katalinich, of Ormand, Victoria, Australia; her great-grandson, Ryker Katalinich, of Ormand, Victoria, Australia; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Her remains will be buried alongside those of her parents later this summer in Chisholm, Minnesota.Cremation was entrusted to Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home.
