Evangeline G Padilla Venable
July 10th, 1943 - August 10th, 2021
Evangeline G. Padilla Venable was born July 10, 1943 and passed away at age 78 comfortably and peacefully on Tuesday August 10, 2021 at her home in Albuquerque, NM. She always wanted a big family. Remembering a story where she would line up several dolls to represent the family she wanted. She didn’t have as many children from her childhood lineup (dream) biologically but she did have many children enter her life at different times with their own stories and circumstances. She treated them all as family. When her first grandchild was born she chose to leave the outside workforce to stay home and take care of him. It was a PERFECT fit for her because kids and taking care of others was one of her biggest passions and family was always #1 to her. Throughout her time she took care of countless number of kids. She was affectionately known by many names by so many. She was known as: Mom, Vangie, Nina, Nani, Mama Grande, Grandma Muffin, and Honey to all who knew and loved her. Our Mom and Dad lived a beautiful love story. When they met they quickly became inseparable. They raised their children and just did so very much for everyone they met. Our Dad spoiled our Mom until his very last day and the two of them gave us a wonderful life full of joy, love and wisdom. Many lessons were learned, some of the biggest was how to treat your partner and to put your heart into everything you did. What a great way to live! What beautiful examples we had to follow. They loved to travel! They would go camping at the drop of a dime. My mom would cook and my Dad would be fishing. They took as many people as they could with them to share their love of camping. They burned up the highway between New Mexico and North Carolina. A trip we all looked forward to throughout the years. Our home away from home. Our Mother LOVED to be in the kitchen. She would cook like we were expecting an entire Military Unit at any given time. Food was always on the stove and ready. People knew if they stopped by they would have a nice, tasty meal. She taught all her children to cook and bake, she would make it a family affair. We are all so grateful for those times, not only did we learn to cook and bake but family time we’ll spent. Our sweet Mom was an EXCEPTIONAL woman who excelled in everything she did. She managed several hotels, supervised many people and ran her own home daycare. So what’s so amazing about that? Only being able to complete the 6th grade to go on and take care of her parents at a young age didn’t allow her the opportunity to continue and finish school. Shows how smart and focused she had always been. HER DRIVE, WORK ETHIC AND TENACITY SHINED THROUGH IN EVERYTHING SHE DID. Evangeline was preceded in death by her husband Lee A. Venable, her parents Tomas C. Gabaldon and Isabel Silva as well as her siblings Salvador (Frances) Gabaldon, Sennie (Tony) Lopez, Cuca (Frutoso) Gurule, Eliseo (Leonor) Gabaldon, Patsy (Manuel) Flores, Tommy (Eva) Gabaldon and Isabel “Betty” Gabaldon. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Evangeline (Daniel) Mora, Lawrence (Florence) Padilla, Denise Grayson, Michelle Padilla, Stephanie (Michelle) Padilla, and Joseph (Frances) Valles, of Albuquerque, 22 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Brother-in-law Derrit "Pluto" (Denise) Venable of Spokane, WA & Sister-in-law Valerie (Harold) Venable-Taylor of Spokane WA, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends.
