Jeffrey Scott Davis, age 74, passed away on August 8, 2021 following a lengthy illness. His wife, Megan, was by his side. Jeff was proud to say he was born on William Shakespeare’s birthday, April 23, to Richard and Mary Scott Davis. In recent years, Jeff decided to honor his mother and requested to be called Scott. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps and he served one tour in Vietnam. In July 1971, he completed his service in the Marine Corps, moved back to Albuquerque, and began dating his future wife, Megan. On November 21, 1973, he married Megan (Banes) Davis. He earned several degrees from the University of New Mexico: Bachelor of University Studies (Medieval Literature), Bachelor of Science (Geology, Minor in Math), and a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Statistics. Jeff loved reading literature, sketching, coloring, and drawing. In his younger years, he was an avid bicyclist and marksman. Jeff and Megan never turned down an opportunity to ride roller coasters – the faster and scarier, the better. He also enjoyed a variety of music, including rock, jazz, gospel, and classical. He also claimed that he was Donald Duck’s biggest fan. He was interested in the history of Donald Duck and the works of the original artist Carl Barks. His passion was so great that he wrote a paper about Donald Duck for an assignment at the University. In addition to Donald Duck, Jeff loved science fiction and horror films. Many people remember him driving his orange 1971 Karmann Ghia which he owned for 40 years. He was also known for his intelligence and his dry sense of humor. He was an excellent storyteller, and was able to conjure a believable tale in seconds. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Mary, his sister, Bobbi, his brothers-in-law David Bealmear and Ken Sparkman, and his mother-in-law Sylvia Banes. He is survived by his wife, Megan, sisters-in-law Ruth Banes and Suzanne Waite and her husband Keith, niece, Sylvia Killinen and her husband Gene. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Riverside Church of Christ, 3100 La Orilla NW. A reception will follow. Jeff enjoyed dressing in casual attire, jeans, boots, western shirts, Hawaiian shirts and t-shirts. He especially enjoyed Donald Duck and Grateful Dead attire. To honor him, the family encourages people to dress accordingly. A reception will follow. Jeff had a big place in his heart for the homeless or anyone in need. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to: Albuquerque Christian Children’s Home, The Christian Student Center at UNM, a homeless ministry, or the organization of the donor’s choice.
