Isabel Benavidez

Isabel Benavidez-Mendez, 83 beloved wife and mother, was called to her Eternal resting place on Friday, October 8, 2021. Isabel entered this world on Wednesday, July 27, 1938, in Puertocito, NM to Jose G. and Rita Apodaca. Isabel was preceded in death by Joe D. Benavidez, her husband and by her bother Desi Apodaca and sister Adelina Lopez. She is survived by her last living sister MaryJane Garcia of Socorro NM: her four children Diana Mason, MaryElizabeth Benavidez, Joe Jr., Benavidez, and Debra Benavidez. Her six grandchildren Joe Daniel Benavidez, Jon Benavidez, Rocci Benavidez, NormanJoe Leyba and Michael Leyba. Her two great-grandchildren Angelo Benavidez and Xoee Benavidez and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Isabel worked over 20 years for Honeywell as an Inspector Specialist. She loved her children and treated her grandchildren as her own. She always made you feel welcome when you entered her home and was an amazing cook, especially her red child and tortillas! She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Isabel was cremated, and her ashes will be interred alongside her beloved husband Joe D. Benavidez at GateWay of Heaven Cemetery at later date. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., at the San Miguel Church, El Camino Real, Socorro, NM. A reception will follow at the family home of Robert and MaryJane.
