Larry Kenton Mauck peacefully entered eternal rest January 06, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital after an extended illness. He was 58 years old. He was born October 09, 1954 to Kenton and Christine Mauck in Simla, CO. Larry grew up on the family farm 15 miles North of Limon, CO. Larry was a member of the Walks Camp 4-H Club for many years. He graduated Limon High School in 1972. September 01, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Roberta Louise Kinkade, also of Limon. To this union three boys were born in Hugo, CO, Ralph, Landon and Christopher; all of whom now reside in Loveland. Larry attended college at CSU for a semester and decided to return to Limon, where he worked for Winterberg Oil and Construction Company for many years. He went on to work for Mtn Bell for five years. He and Roberta then started their own construction company, Mauck Construction and Supply Co. running it for six years. When the economy went bad they then sold the business and moved to Longmont in 1989. Embracing the little boy within, along with the love of digging in the dirt with big machines, he went to work in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. He stopped working in 2007 due to ill health, as the many years of working on the farm and then later being in the construction industry finally took its toll. Since he could never really give up the tractors, he purchased a riding mower and made many trips around the yard on his miniature tractor, wearing goofy looking hats. His true passion, however, was for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He and Roberta made many trips into the mountains of CO in their Willy’s Jeep, seeking out the old mining towns. He also made many trips to Gunnison to go deer and elk hunting with his buddy, Eric, and would take his boys to KS to hunt quail and pheasant with his brother-in-law, Mike. He took many beautiful pictures of his beloved mountains, as no other mountains could compare. Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, who passed away this last summer. He is survived by his wife, sons, mother Christine of Colorado Springs, sisters: Brenda (John) Barkley of Jefferson, CO, and Lorida (Greg) Cook of Tribune, KS; Brother, Ronnie (Bonnie) Mauck of Cocolalla, ID and 5 nieces, 2 nephews, Aunts, Uncles and many cousins. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel in Longmont. Cremation has been entrusted to Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services.
