Juanita "Honee" Gonzales

Juanita "Honee" Gonzales, 95, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 8, 2020. She is survived by one son Allan Gonzales, and wife Janet, and one daughter Johnanna "Bunny" Gonzales of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Justin Martinez, and wife Jessica, Aline Gonzales, and husband Josh, and Gregory Ortiz (Samantha) all of Albuquerque; and five great-grandchildren, Aidan Martinez, Natalia Saiz, Marisol Martinez, Aislynn Martinez, and Emilia Saiz. The family would like to give a special Thank you to Teresa Garcia, RN, Lavonia, Beatrice and Maria. for their compassionate care. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Hector J. Gonzales on March 2, 2019, three brothers, Ruben Garcia, Arthur Garcia Jr, and David Garcia, two sisters Leonela Sanchez, and Tomasita Smoot. Honee, was born on March 8, 1925, daughter of Arturo Garcia Sr. and Frances Baca Garcia where she was raised on south 3rd and Bridge in the Barelas neighborhood. Honee, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also very involved and supportive of the family business Hector's Plumbing Company for 45 years. Hector, and Honee, did lots of traveling and enjoyed life to its fullest. Honee's, highlight was playing Poker with the "Pokers" every Friday night for 40 years. She loved basketball and enjoyed going to the New Mexico Lobo basketball games. She was a very kind and giving, and optimistic and always willing to help others and the less fortunate. She was known at Smith's Grocery store for paying it forward before paying it forward was even recognized, and on many occasions, she actually paid for other people's groceries while standing in line. She was a member of the Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday October 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Interment will take place following at Sunset Memorial Park. In honor of "Honee" if the opportunity arises pay it forward.
