She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Elizabeth Lippert, and her brother David Lippert Kate was born on February 14, 1950 in Olean, NY. On December 17, 1977, she married Donald R. Bloom. Kate received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from St. Bonaventure University. She was very passionate about education and always strived to help all her students succeed. Her love for teaching was reflected in her 50+ year career in grades ranging from Jr. Kindergarten through 8th grade in New York, Michigan, and New Mexico. She was currently employed at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School. She will be greatly missed by her students and the faculty. While she was not teaching, Kate loved to travel, garden and cook. Her travels took her around the globe, including Italy, Rome, and the Bahamas. However, her most memorable trip was to the Grand Canyon where she was able to surprise Don with his dream of riding a donkey down the canyon trails to the Colorado River. At home she poured her love into her backyard garden growing a wide range of vegetables, using her harvest to make homemade breads, soups, chilis, and side dishes. She loved to share her dishes with her friends and family. To remember her life, a rosary recitation and a funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on May 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to honor her role as an ALS caregiver by asking donations be made to the New Mexico Chapter of ALS Association or to University of New Mexico Hospital Foundation.
