Najwa Kassem

Najwa Kassem (maiden name Kansao) was born on November 20, 1953 in Hazleton, PA. Najwa was a member of the American Druze Society, a hardworking mom, dedicated friend, and beloved by many. A few of her favorite hobbies included shopping, collecting jewelry, and enjoying chocolates. She died at age 69 on May 27, 2023 in Houston, TX from her battle with cancer. She was able to spend some of her last days with her daughters and shared goodbyes until the end. She is survived by her daughters Linda Najjar and Janine Gardner, and their respective spouses Jason Riggs and Cory Gardner; as well as her siblings, Samya Kansao, Joey Kansao, Camelia Merhi, and Linda Masri, and her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ameen Slyman Kansao and Bahia Kansao and siblings Fareed Kansao and Adele Nasserdeen. If Najwa were here now, she would tell us all to “light a candle and say your prayers.” In accordance with her wishes, a small and simple graveside burial service will be held on June 8, 2023, at 2pm at: Gate of Heaven Cemetery 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109. Attendance is welcomed by anyone who wishes to join the celebration of her life.
