Richard Dean Meyer
March 25th, 1952 - November 7th, 2023
A life so graciously lived deserves to be graciously remembered. Please join us as we mourn the passing of the admired and deeply loved Richard D. “Rick” Meyer. Richard passed on November 7th and is now walking the iron in the sky. Rick was born March 25, 1952, in Henrietta, Oklahoma. Rick lived a life of various adventures both personally and professionally, always prioritizing his loved ones in all he did. After graduating in the Class of 1970 at Rio Grande High School, Rick joined the United States Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Navy Seabees, and later served in the US Navy Reserves. Upon returning to New Mexico, Rick began his career following in his family’s footsteps as a dedicated 3rd generation Ironworker who served in his union, Local 495, for 48 years. In his career as an ironworker, he worked in the field, was later elected as the Apprenticeship Coordinator, and concluded his ironworker journey as the Local 495 Business Manager. Rick was considered a pillar of the community. From his volunteerism in community projects to his participation in the state and local bowling associations, Rick lived an abundant life. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Jimmy Meyer, and three siblings. He leaves behind his sunshine of 50 years, Mary Meyer; son, Joshua Meyer and wife, Annette; daughter, Danielle Goins and husband Randall; grandchildren, Renee “Pooter” Baca and boyfriend Gabe Solano, Jacob Baca and Scarlett Meyer; brother JR Meyer and wife, Barb, along with many cherished family members and friends. Rick will forever be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and great sense of humor. His legacy will live on through the values he instilled in his family and the imprint he left on people’s hearts. A service will be held on December 7th at 9am, at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3424 4th St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
