Leroy Duran
March 12th, 1947 - July 20th, 2021
Leroy Duran (WeeGee) 74, a lifelong resident of El Rancho, left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 20th. Leroy was born on March 12, 1947. He was preceded in death by his mother Fulgencia Duran, Maternal Grandparents Don Jesus Roybal, whom was like a father to him, and Maclovia Roybal, Aunt Trinnie and Uncle Aguinaldo Romero, Aunt Rose and Uncle Ignacio Gonzales, cousins John, Patsy and David Romero and his beloved Godparents Praxedes and Otilia (Tillie) Lujan-Lopez. Leroy retired from Los Alamos after twenty-two years with the Teamsters Union. He was a mischievous, fun loving and caring person. He enjoyed spending time with his two sons and grandchildren. He was a true Kansas City Chiefs fan and he also loved going to car shows. He enjoyed visiting his friends and co-workers while cruising in his ’56 Chevy pickup or his ’67 Impala. Leroy is survived by his two sons, Dennis and Fiancee, Fran of Espanola and Leroy Jr. of Chimayo, five grandchildren that he adored and loved, Mathew, Jenessa, Dennis Jr and Ennalyeya Duran, Jaziah Valerio and many other close friends and relatives. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, July 27th at 9:30 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Interment will be at El Rancho Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service. Serving the family as pallbearers are Dennis Duran, Leroy Duran, Jr., Jake Roybal, Aniver Roybal, Michael and George Vigil.
