Valentin R. Aragón age 71, a resident of Las Vegas, NM entered eternal life on Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born on April 2, 1950, in Las Vegas, NM. He grew up in Las Vegas and attended Robertson High School. He moved to Colorado where he started his career in the construction industry focusing on the carpentry and concrete segment of the industry. After a number of years in Colorado, he moved back to New Mexico and was active with the Carpenter’s Union local where he worked with major construction companies such as Bradbury and Stamm, A. S. Horner, and others. He worked on local construction projects such as the Intel Corporation in Rio Rancho, Montana de Fibre fiber board plant, the renovation construction of the United World College and the Abiquiu dam construction upgrades. Valentin worked in the construction industry until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union and always stood in solidarity with his union brothers and sisters. Valentin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all things having to do with agriculture and ranching. He was a board member of the Tierra y Montes Soil and Water Conservation District and truly believed in proper management and conservation of our natural resources. His personal interests were in riding good horses and raising good cattle. His hobbies included playing guitar and loved singing rancheras and corridos with his exceptional singing voice. He is preceded in death by his parents Jose Alberto and Eva Aragón, son Donnie Aragón. He is survived by his daughter, Cheri Kelly (John) grandchildren Jeremy, Jacob and 4 great grandchildren, his son Lonnie Aragón, granddaughter Alyssa, and Donnie’s son Joey. Brothers and sisters: Joann Griego, Albert Aragón Jr. (Theresa), Frances Siebold, Robert Aragón (Rose) of Albuquerque, NM, Clarence Aragón, Andres Aragón (Yvonne), Gene Aragón and Bernadette Romero (Gene) all of Las Vegas, NM. Uncle and aunt Juan Martinez (Patricia) of Albuquerque, NM and Mary Lou Gallegos (Charlie) of Albuquerque. Special friends: Pearl Sanchez and Edward Montoya; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Services are scheduled for Friday, November 19, 2021, with rosary at 9:00 a.m. followed by funeral mass at 9:30 a.m., both services to be held at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM.
