Warner Robins, Georgia – Catherine McElroy, 85, went home to be with her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 18, 2022. A Funeral Service honoring the life of Catherine will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. The family respectfully asks those who plan to attend the funeral service to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Catherine was born on August 9, 1936 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Essie English and Eugene Mitchell. Catherine was a very selfless individual who loved helping others in their time of need. She was a very wise woman who could often times be found passing her wisdom along to her: children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Catherine found great joy in cooking for those she loved. One of her favorite hobbies was to sit with her family and share countless laughs. When Catherine was not with her family, she could be found near a body of water with a fishing pole in her hands. Whether Catherine caught any fish or not she always had a great time and was overwhelmed by the beauty of the Lords creation. Catherine was a woman of faith who served the Lord her God with all of her: soul, heart, mind, and strength while being a faithful member of Greater Springfield Baptist Church. She truly found great peace when listening to her favorite gospel artists, especially Lee Williams. In addition to her parents, there awaiting for Catherine at the gates of heaven is her beloved daughter, Gloria Releford; Siblings: Eugene Mitchell, William Mitchell, Dorothy Johnson, and Patricia Hagan. Left to cherish the beautiful legacy Catherine leaves behind is her beloved Children: Betty (Reggie) Kennedy, Carolyn Mitchell, Janet Mitchell, Sharon (Gary) Runnels, Nannette Mitchell, Patricia (Willie) Jackson, Aaron Johnson; Siblings: Mary Head, Letha Nelson, Mable Haynes, Rebecca Lynah; 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren as well as extended family members and friends. It is with great honor Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with Mrs. Catherine McElroy’s arrangements.
