Julian "Jay" Ray Grace
February 27th, 1957 - June 28th, 2023
Julian Ray Grace ("Jay") Jay was born and raised in Santa Fe and passed away with his family by his side on June 28, 2023. Jay was 66 years young. Jay was preceeded in death by his father, Julian Grace and his brother Allen Grace; paternal grandparents, Augustine and Margaret Grace; and maternal grandparents, Ramon and Anita Garcia. Jay is survived by his daughter, Julie Grace (Justin); grandson, Trysten Niram Crummett; mother, Eulogia (Logie) Garcia; sisters Kathleen Coffman (Joseph and Bella Romero), Pamela Grace (Shea Leading), Venus (Katherine Scarafiotti, Terry, and Cal); niece Sarah Grace, nephew Gabriel Grace (Hailey and Kieran) and Kathy Gallegos; stepmother, Rosalina Grace; and many relatives too numerous to name with the exception of his cousin Herman Grace with whom he shared a special bond. Jay served in the US Navy and was quite accomplished earning the highest security clearance, working on submarines, traveling the world and learning new languages. He had a love for the Philippines and survived the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from The College of Santa Fe with a Masters in Business Administration after leaving the US Navy. Jay was an independent, intellectual, freethinker, athlete and musician, but what Jay will be remembered for is being a kind and gentle soul who loved all creatures big and small. Jay was loved deeply and will be missed dearly by his family, especially his mother. Services will be held: Wednesday August 16 starting with a rosary at 9:30am and a funeral mass at 10am at Santa Maria de la Paz on Richards Ave. Reception with light lunch to follow immediately after at 11am at Santa Maria de la Paz reception hall 11-1:30 Funeral procession at 1:45 to the National Cemetery and burial with Honor Guard at 2:30pm
