Samuel Gonzales

Lifelong resident of Santa Fe N.M. Sam, passed away from natural causes on 2/12/2024 with his daughter by his side in the home he built on Upper Canyon Rd. Born to Marcos and Elena (Alarid) Gonzales on 10/14/1929. He was a lifelong parishioner of Cristo Rey Church who spent his whole life on Upper Canyon Rd. He served 3 years in the Army National Guard (Cpl) and retired from N.M. Dept. of Corrections as a machinist & locksmith. Predeceased by his parents, wife Frances(Garcia), brothers Jerry, David and Lorenzo Gonzales, sister Ernestina Chavez and daughter in law Darlene Gonzales. He is survived by his son Sam Gonzales, grandchildren Denise, Christina and Theresa Gonzales. Daughter Patricia Gonzales, grandchildren Celeste, Aliyah And Elijah Gonzales-Matovich. Also surviving him is his sister Frances Martinez and brother Antonio Gonzales. On February 27, 2024 rosary will be recited at 9:30am followed by mass at 10:00am at Cristo Rey Church, 1107 Cristo Rey St. Interment will take place at 2:30pm at The Santa Fe National Cemetery. Special thanks to Miriam, Lynn, Lindsey and Sheryl at Ambercare for the excellent care they provided. Also thank you to Patricia (his primary caregiver) and Elijah for their 24/7 devotion to his needs the last few years of his life. May he rest in peace.
