MSgt. Herbert V. Tilley USAF (Ret.)

MSgt. Herbert Vestel Tilley, USAF (Ret.), 90, entered into rest the early evening hours of Tuesday, December 19, 2023. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11 AM. A visitation will take place between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM. Mr. Tilley will be laid to rest with a private ceremony at Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. Pastor John Strickland will officiate. Herbert was born May 27, 1933 to the late Earnest A. Tilley and Oretha P. Vaught Tilley in Ravencliff, West Virginia. He joined the United States Air Force on May 22, 1952 and retired as a Master Sergeant on June 30, 1978. He was very proud of his service to his country and continued serving his country for an additional twenty years as a civil servant at Robins Air Force Base in aircraft maintenance. Herbert, along with his parents, is also preceded in death by his siblings: Earnest Tilley, Brady Tilley, Tick Tilley, Roger Tilley, and Gerald Tilley. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Mary R. Tilley of Warner Robins; children: Frank (Dawn) Tilley of Warner Robins and Mitch (Sheriann) Tilley of Culloden; grandchildren: David Tilley, Brittani Tilley, Jacob Tilley and Jessica Tilley Frets; four great grandchildren; siblings: Ray Tilley of Maryland, Randall Tilley of West Virginia, Rondell Tilley of West Virginia, Patty Ann Byars of Indiana, Ethel Day of West Virginia, Brenda Kay Tilley of West Virginia; and a host of extended family and friends.
