December 10th, 1946 - January 17th, 2024
Leslie E. Murphy passed away peacefully in the evening hours of Wednesday, January 17, 2024. She was 77 years old. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024, between the hours of 6 PM and 8 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. The family requests friends wear purple, Leslie's favorite color. The remainder of the services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paws in Middle Georgia, 408 N. Houston Rd. Warner Robins, Georgia 31093, or online at pawsinmidga.com. Leslie was born December 10, 1946, in Schenectady, New York to the late Frederick Harve Ames and Suzanne Stern Ames. She was a retired chemist working for the Research And Development department for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. Leslie loved to listen to country and the music of the 1970s. Most of her family and friends knew her as a hippie with a free spirit and held a love for nature and animals. Her love for animals fueled her passion for rescuing and finding homes for them. Leslie received awards from the Missouri State Fair for her talents with needlepoint. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Murphy Sgt. USMC//Capt USAF Ret. of Warner Robins; children: Brad (Gretchen) Gorski of Atlanta, Michelle (CMSgt. Larry Laurine-USAF, Ret.) Laurine of Warner Robins, Patrick T. Murphy of Warner Robins; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred (Natalie) Ames of North Carolina; niece, Brennan Phares; nephew, Jonathan Ames; and 1 great nephew, Jude.
