Riverside Funeral Home - Albuquerque
Louie B Alvarez
August 7th, 1925 - December 28th, 2014
Birthday, 08/07/1925 (a strong Leo) Louie B. Alvarez, a lifelong New Mexico resident and \\salesman, (aliases: Luis, El Callo, Lou, Don Louie, and of course Dad and Gramps) left to fulfill his eternal life with our Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the marvelous age of almost 90. As a true Veteran hero of World War II, Louie lived his 89 years on earth to the fullest as a son, husband, father, father-in-law, and of course grandpa to 14 grandchildren and 31 great (great great) grandchildren. We find comfort knowing that Louie will soon be tap dancing and doing the jitterbug in heaven while hugging Grandma Belle and his daughter Virginia. Louie was married to Magdalena (Margaret/Grams) Alvarez for 67+ years until his last breaths here on earth. Louie always made it known to all how much he loved Grams by always trying to sneak in a kiss. They day they met they knew it was meant to be and therefore, they had six children (four daughters and two sons) that they adored deeply. Louie loved his family dearly. Listed below from the oldest child in line, were many of his pride and joys in life: Daughter Dahlia (and her late husband Erasmo and grandchildren Sam and Marty); daughter, Rachael (and grandchildren Yvonne, late grandson James, Patricia, and Andrea; son Michael (and three grandsons, Michael Jr., Dominic, and Christopher); and his late and beloved daughter Virginia (and two grandsons, Alex and Albert); and daughter Connie (and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Pete Jr.); and youngest child, John (and granddaughter Eliana). Thanks to Louie and Margaret, their children have many fond memories and stories to share about his days on earth. Louie had a love for many things of which we could all tell many stories. We will miss the good times and military stories with Gramps, including his love for Gallo wine, dancing (especially tearing it up at the senior citizens center and making the 6 o'clock news), playing Keno and gambling at the casino with Grams, eating Church's Fried Chicken, the yearly Christmas envelopes with cash, and going to church every Saturday at St. Therese. The family would like to invite family and friends to attend a viewing that will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 beginning at 5:00 PM at the Riverside Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd NW. Please bring your good time stories to share with his family and friends as we honor Louie's long life through laughter and celebrate this wonderful man with some big band tunes like Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. Louie, Dad, and Gramps, we will see you soon in your pink station wagon in the sky – Give our love to Belle, Virginia, Dolores, James, and of course, Brutus (1 and 2)! Love you, and we will remember your cliches… mado-lini and sonamabeachee! Arrangements entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque, 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE, (505) 764-9663.
