Ruly Georgina (“Gina”) Lorenzo, née Quintas, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in Marana, AZ. She was the wife of 69 years to Oscar Lorenzo, who preceded her in death in 2020 at her previous residence in White Plains, MD.
Mrs. Lorenzo was born April 23, 1932 in Havana, Cuba, daughter of the late Raul and Sarah, née Tarke, Quintas. She attended boarding school at St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine, FL, from which she graduated in 1950. On October 8 of that same year, she married Mr. Oscar Lorenzo at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Havana, Cuba. Following the Cuban Revolution, she emigrated with her family to the United States, living in Miami, FL, El Paso, TX, Le Sueur, MN, Fairfax, VA, Hampton, VA, White Plains, MD, and finally Marana, AZ.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lorenzo is preceded in death by two sons, Oscar Lorenzo III and Richard Lorenzo, and a sister, Sarah Flores. She is survived by two daughters, Georgina Plummer (Donald) of Marana, AZ and Eileen Lorenzo (Charles Thompson, deceased) of Levels, WV; a close niece, Sarah Shannon (Dennis) of Falls Church, VA; four grandchildren, Ryan Plummer, Joseph Plummer, Michelle Lao (John), and Rev. Samuel Plummer; and four great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 4pm at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 12101 W Moore Road, Marana, AZ 85653. A private burial will take place at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, Virginia at a later date.
